Traditional healers of the Amazon Rainforest led the makers of Mytesi to crofelemer, the active ingredient in Mytesi.
Crofelemer is extracted and purified from the red bark sap of the Croton lechleri tree. For centuries, the sap has been used to treat a wide range of health conditions.
The botanical source material for Mytesi is sustainably harvested from an abundant, fast-growing Amazonian tree species.
- For every 1 tree harvested, at least 2 new trees are planted.
- Since 2001, over 800,000 trees have been planted.
Napo has practiced fair trade with its local and Indigenous partners for over 2 decades, which has provided income-generating opportunities for individuals, communities, and families.
A portion (2%) of Mytesi profits will be distributed to collaborating countries and cultural groups via the Healing Forest Conservancy, an independent non-profit foundation established in the 1990s to develop and implement a process for benefit sharing that recognizes the intellectual contribution of Indigenous populations.
