Protecting the Source of Mytesi
For centuries, traditional healers and ethnobotanical researchers in the Amazonian rainforest have recognized the medicinal properties of Mytesi’s botanical source material.
Mytesi’s active ingredient, crofelemer, is extracted and purified from the red bark sap of the Croton lechleri tree, which is sustainably harvested through a robust reforestation program dedicated to ensuring a high degree of quality, safety, and ecological integrity.1
How does Napo promote sustainability?
The botanical source material for Mytesi is sustainably harvested from Croton lechleri, an abundant, fast-growing Amazonian tree species
For every 1 tree harvested, at least 2 new trees are planted
Since 2001, Napo Pharmaceuticals, the maker of Mytesi, has planted over 800,000 trees
Napo has practiced fair trade with its local and Indigenous partners for over 2 decades, which has provided income-generating opportunities for individuals, communities, and families
